Mindful Morning Routine

First off, what kind of day do you want to have? One filled with motivation and ambition? Or perhaps a slower, "stop and smell the roses" kind of day?

Ideal Time-Allotment: 1 hour

Try to give yourself a minimum of a 1-hour window between waking up and going to work.

Motivation and Ambition

Do you know that feeling you get when you have a more motivating kind of day? Ambitious and ready to accept, with open arms, all of the things you have been putting off. The procrastinators out there know what I'm talking about. For some people, these days can be few and far between. But when they do occur, it can leave one feeling accomplished and successful.

5 Ways to Feel More Awake and Motivated in the Mornings

  • Turn lights on brighter (high if there is a dimmer)

  • Make breakfast

    • If you don't eat breakfast try a plant-based protein shake

  • Take a shower

  • Get Moving/Exercise

  • Diffuse Wild Orange Essential Oil

Slow and Mindful

Have you been feeling anxious, stressed or overwhelmed lately? Try taking a calmer approach to your mornings to transform your day from the start. It's easy to think that one must constantly be productive and need to earn their breaks, but sometimes 'slow and steady wins the race'. I find that the most effective way to shift this mindset is to start the day as if you were ending it. Begin the day doing something that you enjoy doing when you get home from work i.e: cook, watch TV, exercise, etc. When you start the day this way, there's less pressure on earning that end-of-the-day break because you already started the day off doing something that brings you joy.

5 Ways to Feel Calmer in the Mornings

  • Keep lights dim

  • Meditate and/or practice Yin/Restorative yoga

  • Make a simple breakfast

  • Diffuse Lavender or Frankincense Essential Oil

  • Do something that brings you joy

    • Examples: hobbies, watch TV while drinking coffee/tea, exercise, listen to mellow music, etc.
